Insert a Page Number

When writing business documents, page numbers are usually added at the right hand edge of each page. To add page numbers to a document:

Format a Page Number
|
MSWord enables you to use different page number formats for different sections in a document. For example, you may want to use standard numbers (1, 2, 3 …) as the page number format for the main body of your document, but roman numerals (i, ii, iii …) as the page number format in your table of contents footer. To format page numbers:

Restart Page Numbering
|
MSWord allows you to restart page numbering at the start of each new section. This is most often used at the start of a document when you want to disregard the title page and table of contents so that numbering of the main body of your document starts on page one. Note: The instructions below assume that you have split your document into sections, added page numbers and unlinked sections as required. To restart page numbering:
